Ellen Sefton, 19, and Ellen Connolly, 19, for stealing 22 yards of tabinet from Messrs. Dickenson and Brown....
The names of the young women Sefton and Connolly will be recognized by many of our readers. The recorder, in
passing sentence, stated that they had been four times tried for felony, and that on the last occasion they had been
warned of the consequences of any further offence: it was his duty, therefore, to send them out of the country...
And so he did. The two Ellens sailed to Sydney, NSWwith 103 other women from England and Ireland.
From Sydney they were shuttled to Tasmania on the Princess Charlotte. Ellen Connolly arrived on 1 June 1820
and Ellen Sefton on 6 September.
Ellen Connolly married Samuel Hounslow on 6 March 1822 and Ellen Sefton married William Temple on 1 Dec
